A Wake-Up Call…

The glowing sun rays shone on her face bright. Moving her hair aside from her face, she woke up with a glistening smile like always. She embraced the sun rays and the atmosphere around her. “Such a beautiful day,” she said.

She freshened up and saw herself in the mirror. Her weary eyes and exhausted body could not match her positive enthusiasm.

Mirror: Good Morning Lady in Blue, how are you doing today?

Lady in Blue: Just like every day fresh and kicking.

In her deep blue eyes, you could see the era gone by. Her unimaginable beauty makes you think if anyone can be as alluring as her. She kept staring at the mirror as if it’s a crystal ball where she is visualising her life gone by.

Mirror: What are you seeing today, Oh Lady?

Lady in Blue: She said,

When I was born, I was alone,

I had so much to give but no one to receive.

Everything around me was charming, untouched and pure,

Yet my heart craved for a family to share the love.

A woman loves to nurture,

So, God blessed me with children.

I fulfilled all their needs independently, caressed them and held them close to my bosom,

And, they loved me back with all their heart.

Things were smooth,

From a few children to communities,

I was surrounded by them across,

Never distress I had seen.

As the tally rose year on year,

In came a pool of thoughts, beliefs and practices,

Change is inevitable as I know,

Slowly, they forgot to love.

The Woman that I am,

Marvellous and Strong,

Fierce yet caring,

Independent filled with the treasure of love,

I broke with the ever-increasing differences between my children.

They fought, they killed,

Their eyes were full of deceit,

My own took away my own.

I swelled with anger within,

My heart cried in agony,

My eyes shed tears of blood,

My children worried no more.

The Woman that I Am,

Having patience galore,

Will bolster you till I can,

Beware my children,

If I unleash my wrath on you,

You won’t withstand I swear.

Mirror: Oh, Mother Earth calm down your stare. I understand you are hurt but you are not in despair. As they are your children, they will realise your worth. For now, I wish to see your magical smile again.

This Women’s Day I wish that we all take a pause and see what our Mother Earth has given us. A Woman without whom we won’t survive a second and think back what are we doing to her. We are her children and we are here to spread love and get loved.

    1. Yes, it’s high time we realise the importance of Mother Earth and take care of her for us and our future generations. Thanks for stopping by 😊.

  1. It is truly said – Mother Earth can live without us, but we can’t live without her.

The Earth is our mother, nourishing and protecting us in every moment–giving us air to breathe, water to drink, food to eat and herbs to cure us when we are ill. She is a great being who has give birth to sons and daughters of the mankind. She is a loving mother, nurturing and protecting all peoples and all species without discrimination.

You’ve paid a wonderful tribute to her through your post.

As a human being I cherish our precious mother and I love her which is definitely not out of force but it is out of respect, personal and all happiness and survival.

    1. Our Mother Earth nurtures and protects all of us indiscriminately and we don’t value her love, it’s high time we realise her importance. We are forever indebted to her and our love for each other is the only thing she wants.
      Thanks for stopping by 😊

  2. This is really an eye-opening poem! Now, mother earth is also expressing her pain. What’s going on? How things are changing. What do we want to achieve as a human being? If we want to survive on our mother earth we should make a balance. We promise you Mother Earth, we will give you the season to smile back.

  6. A poem in the eyes of mother earth is so touching. Yes, this mother who has nurtured her innumerable kids for innumerable centuries is hurt and bleeding. It is time to wake up and nurse her back to health.

  8. Completely agree with such a beautiful post asking us to stop, take a break and take care of our mother nature.
I’m an Eco-mom and try my best with small steps I can do to nurture her and care for her.
We have little time left else our future generations will have nothing to cherish on Earth.
    Thoughtful post and beautifully penned.

  9. Mehek, indeed I’m sure mother Earth feels this way. How we exploit her. We really need to pledge to protect her and the resources she gives us. Very good thought.

      Thanks for stopping by 😊

  11. Wow I am in awe!! Such powerful poem. You reminded us of our mother earth who is the strongest woman. We her children have been betraying her and have forgotten about her. We can already see her wrath in various seasonal changes happening around us.

  23. I love, love, love your novel take on the prompt, Manisha. Yes, Mother Earth is a woman too, and we are not treating her right. This is a timely reminder to change our ways!

  24. Wow, Manisha! I loved your post. You’ve brought out the love, selflessness and then pain and anguish of what Mother Earth must be feeling for what we’re doing to it and her kids. High time we remember that we’ve all come from one source and go into one! Let’s make this mother proud of us.

    1. Yes Varsha, we have segregated ourselves but we all are humans and humanity is first. The resources and love Mother Earth gives us is equal now it’s in our hands to safeguard these for ourselves and our future generations.

  25. That’s really very thoughtful of you to pay a tribute to Mother Earth. Indeed, we are nothing without her, yet nobody pays attention. High time we should take care of her before she shows her wrath. Glad you are a part of the blog hop and I enjoyed reading your take on the theme 🙂

  26. A very thought provoking post, we tend to forget the sacrifices of Mother Earth and Nature. It’s time we realize the importance and work to save our environment.
