Watch Virgin Bhanupriya – A Wacky Comedy on #ZEE5

My quest for finding good entertaining content is on-going. “Virgin Bhanupriya,” was released on ZEE5, it was supposed to be released in the theaters however, in view of the current situation it was released exclusively on ZEE5 on 16th July. After watching a few thrillers based series, I wanted a break so I checked this movie and wasn’t disappointed at all.

Starring Urvashi Rautela as Bhanupriya Awasthi, this movie also features Gautam Gulati (Shartiya/Abhimanyu), Archana Puran Singh (Madhu, Bhanupriya’s Mother), Rajiv Gupta (Vijay, Bhanupriya’s Father) and Rumana Molla (Rukul Singh) in key roles.

Bhanupriya, a middle class conservative girl, residing in Mumbai wants to lose her virginity on her own terms, in this journey her best friend Rakul plays a huge role, she comes up with her idea ka pitara to help Bhanupriya in her mission. What follows is a crazy comical ride which keeps you in splits.

Urvashi Rautela, has featured in many music videos and movies, latest being Hate Story 4 and Pagalpanti. She is renowned for her glamorous roles however; she has essayed the role of Bhanupriya, a quintessential next door girl very well. The cast as a whole really has done a good job. The storyline has a realistic feel and is not over the top. The catchy dialogues add as cherry on the cake.

Female sexuality and desire is still considered a taboo in Indian society, so this theme is not much explored in mainstream Bollywood.

As quoted by Urvashi herself, – “It’s important to realise that virginity is circumstantial. Every person carries different ideas of what love means to them. So while we are not saying that sexuality should be silenced, we should remove the taboo around virginity,”

Bhanupriya’s adamant in her will, however all her plans go awry, add to her misery a soothsayer professes that she will remain virgin throughout her life. She crosses path with 3-4 guys however, ill fate doesn’t leave her side.

On the other hand, her friend Rakul is totally her opposite. She is an independent girl, aware of her needs, she is the steering wheel in Bhanupriya’s life. Rakul’s punchlines are worth a watch. Rumana (Rakul) appeared in films like Ek Villain and Pyar Ka Punchnama 2. Her film Irada, starring Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi, won the National Film Award for Best Film on Environment Conservation/Preservation.

When it comes to songs the peppy number ‘Beat Pe Thumka,’ sung by Jyotica Tangri is my favorite.

Whether Bhanupriya loses her virginity or not is for you to watch. This movie is a refreshing comedy entertainer for you to enjoy on ZEE5.

  1. Sounds like a cool film to watch tapping on sexuality. It seems like a candy floss romance and good to see refreshing contents. How is Urvashi?
