With the changing times, we see the emergence of new trends, one such being the launch of Bollywood movies on digital platforms. In the past few months, there have been a few launches and after seeing them I have had my set of reactions. While I look positively at this trend personally, I feel we are evolving and every piece of work is just raising the bar for others.

While surfing upon the latest series and movies launched, I came across the trailer for “Ghoomketu” starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Ragini Khanna, Anurag Kashyap, Ila Arun, Raghuvir Yadav and Brijendra Kala in the lead roles, along with cameo performances by Amitabh Bachchan, Ranveer Singh, Sonakshi Sinha, Chitrangada Singh which had received more than 12 million views already. Such an impressive star cast will always grab eyeballs and you can’t ignore the name of the movie which is catchy too.

What can be said for Nawazuddin Siddiqui – he is an alumnus of the National School of Drama, a talent bomb, globally acclaimed actor with some groundbreaking performances across genres, the more you say the less it is. He has been in the industry since 1999 however, he has gained recognition in the past few years. Personally, I feel he lives each of his characters and gives such a realistic feel which is commendable. Well, he plays the central lead character – Ghoomketu in the movie, an aspiring writer from Mahona, a village in Uttar Pradesh.

“One has to struggle a lot initially as I wasn’t able to match the way things are here. The kind of struggle the writer has faced in the movie, I have also struggled a lot in the film industry as an actor. There are quite a few similarities between this character and my life,” Nawazuddin told PTI in an interview. He believes that this upcoming film is about staying true to its roots**

From the trailer, one can make out that the lead character – Ghoomketu has run away to the city of dreams – Mumbai to fulfil his desire to be a successful writer.  At the same time, the police are on a lookout for him and Inspector Badlani played by none other than Anurag Kashyap is been assigned this task with a threat that if he doesn’t get him back, he would be transferred to a remote location. The timelines for both Ghoomketu and Inspector Badlani is set for 30 days now we have to see who reaches their destination – does Ghoomketu becomes a successful writer or whether inspector Badlani catches Ghoomketu only the movie will reveal.

I felt the dialect and the accent have been picked up well by the actors from the trailer. The star cast of Raghuvir Yadav, Ila Arun, adds to the must-watch factor.

In fact, Ila Arun initially was sceptical to play the role, she is so impressed with Nawazuddin’s acting skills that she mentioned – “He is young, his mind is alert and he adds certain nuance in every scene that takes the character to the next level. I, as a senior actor, had to stay on my toes. I had to stay alert to match up to his performance level.”***

Not to forget the noteworthy cameo appearances really add the spice factor.

The movie has been released on 22nd May on #ZEE5 and I am going to be watching it this weekend, what are your plans?
