Every day gives rise to new hopes and paves a path to your final destination. We pick the threads of our past learnings which helps us evolve to a better version of ourselves, the only difference is sometimes it takes multiple experiences of a similar situation to understand a few things and sometimes it clicks in the first instance. Remember, God has better plans for us than we think! Why this gyaan? Well, this is one of the most important learnings of my last decade.
The Decade went by has been a fruitful journey with a lot of crests and troughs but has made the person than I am today. Today, I savour and re-live these life-changing moments with you.
Let’s begin with the rollercoaster down the memory lane…
2010-11: The year with the professional focus…
The beginning of the decade was not so happening for me, I met my colleague/ boyfriend/ husband at the beginning of the decade. However, things were not so smooth and professionally also nothing seemed exciting. Finally, in December 2010 I changed gears professionally. 2011 was totally focussed on managing the new turf in hand. Since it was a senior position I got to learn a lot of things which were instrumental in my professional grooming.
2012: The year of few firsts…
Professionally, the high of the year was heading a multi-country project for the first time which went off damn well. I did two solo travels to Chennai & Hyderabad thanks to work and my first and only travel with friends to Pune. I realised my love for travel and learn about new places. In Chennai, I squeezed in sometime post work to have a flying visit at Mahabalipuram while in Hyderabad it was a hectic schedule and was travelling even on my birthday.
2013-14: Not so Momentous…
The high point would be my bestie’s wedding in these two years. On the personal front, health played a spoiler in 2014 when I had to be hospitalised for Tonsillitis, trust me its not a good condition to be in.
2015: Dreams do come true…
2015 was a game-changing year for me, with lots of struggles and more drama than Chetan Bhagat’s 2 States I got married to my love. Phew… I could not believe it happened! 2015 was a mix of a lot of things – marriage, a good amount of travel however there were few strong downs too I had to give up on my job as my organisation got acquired and its a long story for another day. I lost my maternal grandfather which was a heartbreaking moment as he was my biggest inspiration and still is and lastly, the year ended with my mother-in-law going through a major health crisis.
2016-17: Walking new paths…
Stepping into a new journey, life was more concentrated on the personal front with setting up a lot of stuff. I worked for a start-up for a brief period. My brother got married towards the end of 2016. I embarked a new journey in October 2016. Zarahatkeblog was born! I penned down my first post for my blog. I was a newbie and writing was random but it gained momentum in 2017. I fulfilled my passion for travelling in 2017 you can read about my great and not so great experiences here. However life is not always a bed of roses, my father was diagnosed with cancer. He is a strong man and a fighter, a lot to learn from him. He is truly an inspiration for me!
2018-19: Beginning of the motherhood journey…
Shuruvat hue ek naye kahani ki…
Giving birth to a new being is a life-changing experience. So, 2018 was going through the pregnancy phase and finally having our bundle of joy in September. You undergo a lot of changes as a person mentally and physically so it has been a total dose of that in the last two years. On one hand, you’re witnessing a miracle in your hands and on the other you are experiencing some new downfalls. Thanks to this little miracle I completed my first Ebook – “Anaaya and I – My Journey to Motherhood” which is available on Amazon Kindle too which was a super high for me.
Life is an encapsulation of happy moments and trial times. My takeaways from the “Decade” gone by is fulfil your passions and live for yourself too. I always put everyone else first than myself which should not be the case. This post has been an emotional one with few words written, a lot more re-lived and felt again.
Hope everyone can get the best of every decade henceforth and God Bless Us All 🙂
