Some Web Series/Shows to Watch #MyFriendAlexa

Advertisements

Hello Friends,
I am back again to share a dope on the web series that has been kept me glued.
In the past few months, it has been an overload of law, murder, and mystery for me.
I started with Suits having a Corporate Law backdrop followed by How to Get Away with Murder. This one is a masala filled with suspense, mystery and lots of surprises. Scandal another law theme-based show reflects the politics behind the world of American Politics.
There were some thrillers which I am a huge fan of like Bodyguard, Rook, and Dark. Also, some Indian web series like Made in Heaven and Mind the Malhotras.

🎓 SuitsAmerican drama series

Starring Gabriel Macht (Harvey) who recruits Patrick J. Adams (Mike Ross) a talented college dropout as his associate, as he manages to impress him with his knowledge not knowing the truth that he isn’t a lawyer. Set in New York they are part of a law firm handling the top Corporates in the city. It’s about the evolution of the characters and the firm itself, their equation with each other and the challenges they face. The main characters Harvey, Mike, Rachel Zane (Meghan Markle), Louis (Rick Hoffman), Donna (Sarah Rafferty), Jessica (Gina Torres) each have their plus and minuses and despite everything how they overcome to keep their firm going on is what the series is about.

🤓What to watch for: All character stand out in their own way but my personal favorite is Harvey Spectar what a character, a performance I feel of a lifetime. With the final season running currently I will surely miss Harvey and Donna.
💻Where to watch: Amazon Prime or Netflix

🎓 How to Get Away with MurderAmerican drama series

Thinking how this is a law based series? Well hmm, in this series most of the laws are broken for the good or bad you have to check it for yourself. It has completed 5 seasons with the 6th about to start. The premise of the show is how Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) who teaches law at Philadelphia university picks up 5 students and how they get involved in a murder plot. The story runs with lots of cliffhangers which you need to pay attention to. You need to focus on the timeline to get the story correct. From one to another murder how the lives of the students and the associates working with Annalise intertwine, is what the series is about. I have totally binged watched this one.

🤓What to watch for: For the mystery, suspense, different characters – a complete package.
💻 Where to watch: Netflix

🎓 Scandal American thriller series

It’s a political thriller aired over seven seasons. Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) & Associates (OPA) is the go-to person handling crisis management at the President’s office. The show revolves around how Olivia and her team want to get justice for people however the center point is always the Oval Office.

🤓What to watch for: Simple for the scandals as they add meat to the storyline.
💻 Where to watch: Amazon Prime

🔫 Bodyguard British TV series

David Budd who is a war veteran is being posted as a police sergeant in London. He is been assigned as a Bodyguard to the Home Secretary. the storyline explores the fear of David while working in Afghanistan, his personal life issues, his commitment to his work and how he gets involved in a murder which he hasn’t committed.

🤓What to watch for: The storyline.
💻 Where to watch: Netflix

The Rook American TV series

The story is based out of London about Myfanwy Thomas who wakes up near the London Millennium Bridge only to realize that her memory is wiped out. Through various events which follow she discovers that she works for a Britain’s secret service agency called Checguy. The series is about how she reconnects with who she is. The initial pace of the story is slow and might seem confusing but it builds up as you go on. Its a decent attempt to keep you engaged, nothing extraordinary.

🤓What to watch for: The storyline.
💻 Where to watch: Amazon Prime

Dark German TV series

As the name suggests this one has a lot of mysterious elements which keeps you puzzled. Initially, you may get a feel what is going on but as the story unfolds you are able to connect the dots. If you don’t like cliffhangers then wait for the finale next year and watch the complete series otherwise just go ahead. The character evolution and the storyline keeps you gripped. The story is based out of a small German town where a kid goes missing and how they are unable to trace them, the story connects the relations of 4 key families across 3 timespans. Trust me it could question your intelligence! It’s about the dark side of time travel.

🤓What to watch for: The storyline which reflects how the past, present, and future are connected and the characters,

🛑 Made in Heaven & Mind the Malhotras Indian Web Series

So, with an increase in population watching web series, Indian web series is on a roll too. We have some good content coming up on various platforms. Different story concepts have been touched upon through these web series, unlike the usual saas-bahu dramas which are accustomed to watching on the idiot box.
Made in Heaven is directed by one of my favorites Zoya Aktar so it has to be on my watchlist. Unlike the positive reviews shared across I have mixed feelings for the show maybe because my expectations from Zoya are very high. The basic backdrop is about Tara and Karan who manage some elite weddings in the country. Tara herself is married to a top shot but how? Karan is a homosexual and is his life simple? Hidden secrets behind weddings is it dark or bright? Watch the series to get answers to these questions.
Mind the Malhotras echos the monotony which sets in a marriage once you have been living together for quite some time. It’s a light comedy. Cyrus Sahukar and Mini Mathur are refined actors and totally worth a watch.

🤓What to watch for: Made in Heaven reflects some complex issues of Indian life while Mind the Malhotras is a light comedy reflecting the dullness which comes in a marriage after a few years.
💻 Where to watch: Amazon Prime

From the previous posts, I am awaiting the finale for Blindspot this year and next season of Manifest excitedly. I am keen to know what are thoughts if you have watched any of these series or which series have you been watching. Waiting to hear from you 🙂
