Singapore – The Lion City

Advertisements

We happened to visit Singapore last December, the Lion City or the Little Red Dot as some refer it.

We stayed there for 2.5 days but explored quite a few places. The first half day was kept for the City tour wherein we visited the Merlion Park. Merlion is the symbol of Singapore which is a half lion and half fish structure. The fish represents the origin of Singapore as the fishing village while the lion represents the name of the country.

You have a fountain with Merlion and small gardens around wherein you could sit back and relax for some time. Its used by the students to study as well as its very peaceful out there.

We did a city detour and then finally we had attended the Creatures of the Night Show. It’s a 20-25 min odd show which is interactive. With the backdrop of the starry sky, you can observe animals and their acts. I would like to advise that please catch the best seat by going there 30 mins in advance to enjoy the show to the fullest.

Our next day was reserved for the Universal Studios. With Christmas nearing the decor made me feel I am in my dreamland. It was one hell of experience out there. It was crazy, it was fun and the whole ambience elevated us. Universal Studios obviously is one of the major tourist attraction in Singapore.

You can easily spend the whole day enjoying there. You could face issues on someday when there is a heavy rush. We faced it. We waited for more than 1 hour for a ride. Considering we wanted to revel in all the rides we decided to go ahead for an Express pass which allows special entry but the cost is a bit high. Singapore I must say is an expensive country.

The themes inside are based on movies like Transformers, Shrek, Puss in the Boots, Mummy etc The Live Camera Action show is must watch. Reserve your seats in advance for a thrilling live experience!

The last day was reserved for Jurong Bird Park. I appreciate how they have maintained both the animal and bird park very well. Utmost care is taken for them.

We saw some birds then the show. Post that we headed out for the Madam Tussauds Wax Museum at Sentosa Island. Enjoyed the Luge ride and some time at the beach.

The finale was Laser Show – Wings of Time at Sentosa. It was a delightful sight to watch.

Any trip is incomplete with a bit of shopping so we checked out the local market – Bugis Street and Mustafa. You would find a lot of India shopping stuff and restaurants in Little India. Mustafa is huge wherein some articles are cheaper in cost while, some expensive. A tour package would help you out to get more of the place.
