When In Mumbai – 5 Things you need to do #WhenInMyCity

Mumbai….

                      a city which never sleeps,

                      whose spirit is everlasting,

where stars don’t cease to shine,

                      trains are the lifelines,

and dabbawalas a symbol of precision,

while traffic gets your brain out of mind.

Mumbai mala tujhyawar bharosa nahi re…

tu he mala traas dete ane tu he majhe aas ahe!

… The more you find reasons you get irked, the more you will fall in love with it. Aise hai Amchi Mumbai !!!

Gateway of India

There is a lot which I can say about this city, which has such a strong hold on me that it never lets me go anywhere else. I never felt like leaving the country because of this place. Born and brought up here, there are many things which I have learnt and grew up with being a Mumbaikar.

I would not be able to stop writing about what I love about this city and why I hate it too. This will go on for this life. However, for all those travel to my city, I wish to share 5 must-dos.

Ghumna / Firna

When you visit any city you come to explore the place. We all have our travel plans and time frames, which qualifies some places as must visits while some get ticked off our bucket list. Some places which you must surely visit are –

  • Beaches of Mumbai are requisite. Depending on your agenda try to visit any of them at least either Girgaum or Chowpatty or Juhu Beach.
  • Going to South Mumbai to visit the Gateway of India and The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel must surely be done. It can be clubbed with shopping at Colaba Causeway or Fashion Street. Food can be managed at Leopold Cafe. In evening you can spend some time at Marine drive and enjoy the breeze and feel of Mumbai. In night time the Queen’s Necklace.
  • If you like spiritual places then Siddhivinayak temple and Mahalakshmi temple could be visited. Babulnath temple also gives old times feel while the beauty of Haji Ali is worth a watch.
  • Bandra – Worli – Sea Link /  Rajiv Gandhi Sea Link one of the longest bridge above water in India opened in 2009 is worth a ride too.

If you want to buy clothes, shoes, bags or junk jewellery then Bandra Link Road market or as mentioned above the Colaba Causeway or Fashion Street can be visited. Dadar also has a huge wholesale market. Mumbai is full of malls the bigger ones being R-City Mall at Ghatkopar,  Infinity Mall at Malad and Palladium Mall at Lower Parel.

Every city has its own delicacies when it comes to food Mumbai has a lot to offer. The worldwide cuisine is available to cater to all taste buds here.

But when in Mumbai, eat Mumbaikar’s favourite food…

  • bhel puri, sev puri aur pani puri to banta hai boss, must-haves.
  • The thing that makes a dull day brighter – pav bhaji has to be eaten for sure. You can load it with cheese too.
  • A common man’s survival kit – Vada Pav. Additionally, you could try Bhajiya Pav as well.
  • College’s students favourite – Vegetable Cheese Grilled Sandwich also is a must try.

If you are bold enough then travel in the lifelines of Mumbai its – local trains.

You could plan a trip to Adlabs Imagica one of its kind of amusement park in India or a short trip to the Western ghats – Lonavla and Khandala.

  2. Amchi Mumbai always rocks..Gateway of India, shopping lanes in Bandra & Colaba are must to visit. It’s so easy to flit through Mumbai be it local trains, Best Buses or cabs. I feel it’s not very expensive to get a feel of the city.

    1. True that 🙂 There are so many ways you can enjoy the city although you would find some annoying things too, that Mumbai 🙂
