We happened to be in Udaipur on the long Independence Day Weekend. We were there for 2 days and stumbled to see some great places. I enjoy locations which have historical monuments. Helps me connect dots with things I know and makes learning easy.
The City Palace Museum was our first stopover. ย It’s a palace converted into a museum. The marvellous structure was built by Rana Udai Singh II on Rana’s Hill overlooking Lake Pichola.
This visual treat showcases the history associated with the Maharana’s of Mewar. You can check the beautiful architecture, the various articles used by them like musical instruments, luggage bags, palanquins, clothes and many more things.
Gives you a cinematic glimpse of their life through the things kept neatly in the museum and miniature paintings which Udaipur is famous for. These paintings exhibit the lifestyle of the kings along with the major historical significant moments like the Battle of Haldighati.
Entry Ticket: Rs 350 including taxes.
Tourist Guide: To know this place better it’s essential you hire a tourist guide. You have 2 options either get a person or they have the facility of Audio Guide. We chose the Audio Guide you are given a headphone with a device with numbers. Go to each point and click on the mentioned number to hear the details about it. It was much more detailed and has about 6-7 languages with more than 30 audio points.

Udaipur is one of my fav places for a holiday. Having been there couple times already, I prefer to sit by Fateh Sagar lake or take a stroll there. This write up about city palace brought back wonderful memories. btw, Did you get a chance to catch the Bagore Ki Haveli show? Its a visual treat.
